Arch of Titus
The Arch of Titus, constructed in c.82 AD by
the
Roman Emperor
Domitian,
is a 1st-century triumphal arch located on the Via Sacra, Rome, just to
the south-east of the Roman Forum. It was built shortly after the death of
Domitian's brother,
Titus, to
commemorate his victories, including in the
Siege of Jerusalem in 70 AD. The arch is 50 feet high, 44 feet
wide, and 15.5 feet deep. The inner archway is 27 x 17 feet and was
constructed using pentelic marble
