The northern two statues of Pharoah Ramses
II at the Greater Abu Simbel Temple. The pharonic beard which is seen on
many of the pharoahs of the New Kingdom is broken off from the statue on
the right. The beard apparently was a symbol of power as it was seen on
many statues including those of the female pharoah Queen Hatshepsut and
      the teenage pharoah Tutankhamun. |
